No videos whatsoever are playing? What video formats are you attempting to play? Are you getting an error message? The majority of video issues I've seen are related to attempting to play Flash content in Safari, which doesn't support Flash by default. I wouldn't recommend installing the Flash plugin for Safari because I don't think it's safe. If this is the case, download Google Chrome. It comes with a sandboxed version of Flash preinstalled, making it less vulnerable to security issues IMHO.

If I'm off here and this has nothing to do with Safari, please post more details so we can help.
