Which 13" Macbook Pro to purchase? Top of line 2017 versus low-mid line 2018?

I have a 13" 2014 Macbook Air, which I will be trading in/selling. I am looking for advice regarding the purchase of a 13" 2017 or 13" 2018 Macbook Pro. I will use the laptop for some photo editing and 3D reconstructions. I am not too concerned with the 2017 keyboard issues because I'll be purchasing AppleCare+. I need to make a decision to purchase one of the following:

1) 13" Macbook Pro 2017-
processor: 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7 (dual)
memory: 16GB
storage: 1 TB

2) 13" Macbook Pro 2018-
processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 (quad)
memory: 8GB
storage: 500 GB

Which is the better computer for my needs? I would appreciate any and all advice!

Go with the one with the most RAM.
