What would my photo capacity be on the I Pad Pro?

I do some photo editing, and at this time have about 8,000 photos on my Mac Book Pro. I am trying to decide on the I Pad Pro vs. another Mac Book Pro.

If you set up to store full resolution photos on the iPad they will take up the same amount of space they do on the MacBook Pro and will be limited by the available storage space on the iPad.
