If you are referring to the Apple Watch it means you have a mail or a text.

Welcome to iMore! The red dot on the Apple Watch face lets you know that you have missing notifications (mail and texts, but also any other notification that comes through your Apple Watch). Swipe down from the top of the watch face to view. From there you can swipe left to clear individual notifications or deep press and tap Clear All to clear all notifications at once.
