I have read dozens of threads by people all over the net complaining about their headphone out not functioning properly,

by this i mean that once you plug a 3.5 mini jack the sound prefs does nothing, audio still comes out of the internal speakers, and there is nothing wrong with your jack, its a bug, and once your screen or cpu sleeps or you unplug the jack your back to square one, restarting is the only way to get the audio out to the headphone jacks., nothing else below seems to work.

Things people suggested that already failed:
-Checking to see if Audio is muted in sound prefs= not problem.
-sudo pkill coreaudiod terminal command= nothing happens
-VRAM restart= works with restart, after sleep problem returns
-Having the female jack internally replaced=same thing

anyone solve this huge bug for Apple yet?

I don’t know because I’ve never experienced that with any of the MacBooks I’ve used and still use. Hopefully, someone who has experienced what you’ve described will reply with a remedy or a suggestion soon.
