SIM card question

OK, maybe stupid question but we have 2 iPhone 6S Pluses. When we leave home 90% of the time I will be on LTE while my wife's iPhone 6S Plus will be on 4G. This happens a lot....can it be her SIM card may be faulty? If she hits airplane mode, then turns it off again she will go to LTE but a lot of times it will shortly slip back to 4G while mine stays on LTE.

swapping with a 4G SIM through your provider could be your first attempt to fix the issue?
