Just picked up a used Mac Pro 6 core, 64 gig, 500 gig SSD and a 27" thunderbolt display from a local estate sale for $1300.00 cash and this thing is fast. Sold one of my 27" 5K iMacs to get it and couldn't be happier. Even though the thunderbolt display is half the resolution as my 5k display, I don't find myself missing it at all for the type of work I do which is mainly desktop publishing and some photo editing.

The Mac Pro is faster and the SSD hard drive versus the fusion with High Sierra is a must. I already have noticed a big speed increase over my iMac unit which had 24 gigs of ram and a i7 3.5 processor. So far I feel I have made a great investment and I am loving the Mac Pro.

I still have a 2012 Mac Pro and have been considering upgrading the CPUs to the best Westmere Xeons that would work in addition to also upgrading the GPU with a better card and flashing the ROM.

However, it didn't occur to me that I might be able to pick a trash can Mac Pro for this cheap. I do love my cheese grater, though. Still a solid machine after 5 - 6 years of heavy use.
