The 11th of November marks Remembrance Day across the Commonwealth. I will personally travel to the capital, Ottawa, to attend the National Remembrance Day Ceremony.

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, the Armistice took effect and silenced the guns of the First World War.

As we remember the sacrifices and the lives lost during the different wars, it is our duty to make sure that such events do not reoccur.

LCol John McRae said:

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders Fields, the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
