Is there any way to run a 30'' Apple HD Cinema Display with dual link DVI at full resolution off thunderbolt 3 outlet on new MacBook Pro?

Is there any way to run a 30'' Apple HD Cinema Display with dual link DVI at full resolution off thunderbolt 3 outlet on new MacBook Pro? I learned that the Apple thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter is a non-starter. I tried that with the Apple mini display to double dvi adapter, no luck.
Any suggestions would be helpful. I really like the monitor and would really want to continue using it.
