is there a way to remote install iPhone/ipad updates?

I am working on a mobile device management project and have found a lot of cool tools to remotely install apps and such and but I have not seen anything about remotely install updates, does anyone know if there is a way to do this?

Apple Configurator may be an option. Looks like there's some integration benefits with something like AirWatch.
