Not bad at all. The iPad newest generation is 350. For 170 more you get the Air’s a bit bigger screen in a slightly smaller form, Liquid Retina (versus retina) that is laminated, better speakers, the better SOC chip, better Wi-Fi.
I’m a fan of the iPad as it is a very good device for a good price. But that’s a nice amount of upgrades for 170 bucks.
