ios 6 GM to official release

if i am running the ios6 GM on my 4S do i still need to update to the official release?

The GM version IS the official release. This was confirmed via build number. No need/way to upgrade, you're already there.

No. They have the exact same build numbers. And if you try to update, you'll get told you already have the latest software available.
