im trying to connect a new ipad air and restore from a older backedup ipad

The older ipad broke. It was backed up on a PC. Purchased a new Ipad air. followed the instructions connected to the PC when itunes opens it says that it can not connect to the device due to an invalid response from the ipad?

Make sure you are using the latest iTunes version. Try a different cable or USB port. Try rebooting both the PC and the new iPad.
