My personal private data needs to be more easily readable by governments because there are bad people out there. Also known as ‘We need easier access to everything you do for your own protection’. That’s a chilling reality.
The question regarding China is a good and primary one. But it isn’t only China. Apple better expect pushback from the U.S., EU etc too. And That pushback won’t be a ‘we don’t like E2EE’ declaration, it’ll be other seemingly unconnected avenues that they’ll use to pressure Apple.
