How do I prevent my Iphone4 voice control from continuously randomly calling people?

My Iphone4 has been constantly randomly calling people. It has also face-timed some persons, which I have been able to disable. My phone can be found sitting on my desk or far away from me voice control turns itself on and begins dialing someone, playing music or whatever else it wants. I have tried various methods but to no avail.

Lock the device at the lowest time setting.
This is a very old device. You probably can't update the OS without introducing some lag. However plug it into iTunes and see what OS you can upgrade to, if you choose.

I think iOS 7.1.2. is as high as the 4 will go.
