How do I delete all emails at once, instead of 1 at a time?

I cannot remove all emails at once. I can only do 1 at a time when I have "edit" on -- help, I have 1000 to erase! I have an iPad 2

Login to your email providers website and mass delete them there. The results will or should sync to your iPad.

This will work if your email account is set up as an IMAP account. If it's POP, the only way is one by one on the device.

Yep, exactly this. Fortunately, most email systems suggest setting up as IMAP nowadays but there are some that still use POP for some reason.

OP, there is no way on your iPad 2, in the mail app, of deleting emails en masse.

I actually prefer POP mail for my Mac. It allows me to keep local copies in folders as I choose. And because it's mostly gmail, the mail is also always available via browser should anything go wrong. #oldschool #beltandsuspenders

I do use IMAP on my iPhone for the accounts that allow IMAP that configuration.
