How do I close iPad apps now that I have installed iOS 8?

I installed ios8 today and cannot close apps like I did before.

Double tap the home button and swipe the app you want to close upwards.

Also if you're having an issue do a reboot by holding in both buttons until the Apple logo comes up.

They close just like ios 7. Not sure what you mean whats different
