GMail - PUSH

This is what happens when you've been out the game for a while.
There is no longer an option for adding a GMail account to iOS, and have a PUSH option, right?


Unless I setup Calendar, Contacts as iCal, etc.?

Ya Push has been gone for a while now... But I use iCloud stirctly now. Just setup Gmail forwarded.

And I believe I read somewhere of a way to have the iCloud email send out through Gmail's SMTP server, so your outgoing emails still look like they came from Gmail, yes?

Yes, I believe there is an option to change the SMTP; within the Advanced menu.
I just wish GMail would give back the option to allow 'exchange sync'. Honestly, talk about control...

You can still use Gmail with Exchange on iOS but it requires that you have a Google Apps account.
