My daughter and I both have iPhone 6, I have the plus and she has the smaller size. When I send her a digital message, it animates on her phone and shows her everything. When she sends me a digital message it does not animate, it is only a picture of what she wrote.

Do you have Reduce Motion turned Off. Settings>General>Accessibility>Reduce Motion>Off. Try that.

Yes, it is "off" on both my phone and my daughters.

Try this. Go to Settings > Messages > Toggle iMessage off. > sign out of iMessage > sign back in> Toggle on

Thanks for the advice, currently out of the blue it just started working. If it quits again I'll try the log out/in method. Could have been Apple Server issue
