Changing defalt browser for iCloud for Windows 10

I downloaded iCloud for Windows on my computer several months ago but when I went to open one of apps, such as Calendar or notes, I get a gray screen with an image of a sad faced cloud. The message below it "Your browser is not supported. To use iCloud we recommend using the latest version of Safari, Foxfire, Microsoft Edge, or Chrome." I went to settings and changed my default browser to chrome. Guess what? I continue to get the same message as above. I note that there is a bar under the internet icon on the task bar at the bottom of the screen indicating that browser is open. I keep hoping one of the apple updates will correct this or by dumb luck I will accidently hit the wrong key and the issue will resolve its self. Thanks for any help you can provide.
