Buying a MacBook Pro

Hi,

I'm selling my Mac mini to buy a MacBook, and I'm wondering if i should buy a MacBook pro (2011) or if I should wait for a MacBook pro (2012) (since I'm buying a used one)!

2011 MBP with discreet graphics have problems, the graphics chips can get to hot and effect performance or burn out. Had a 2011 15" MBP for work that was affected. I think Apple had a recall or extended warranty for this. I think it can effect some Macbook pros from 2011 - 2013. I currently have an early 2013 15" MBP with no problems, though the graphics can crap out when running games under Windows via bootcamp

Personally I'd go for a new 13" retina MBP which is priced comparatively with the MackBook but has more punch. Though if you like the Macbook I would still recommend a new one over a used MBP 15" unless you really need 4 cores and discreet graphics.

I looked it up and it said that only the MacBooks with retina displays are affected.
Btw do you think that it is better with a 2012 MBA?

I have done tons of research just recently. I can help you with this question to an extent. So the mid 2012 MacBook Pro with the i7 and 8 gb of ram and 750gb HD is a great machine and they still sell it new right now at BestBuy or Apple store. I found a used one and upgraded the HD to an SSD 500 gb and it is smokin fast!!. I even bought my wife one, a mid 2012 with the i5 and 4 gb of ram with a smaller HD, up graded it to an 250gb SSD and its just as fast as mine if not faster!! Both used mind you! So if you search eBay you can find pretty decent deals and look for the ones that still look brand new on the outside. I got mine for 700$ and my wife's for 650$, they look like they just came out of the box! If you have the cash to spend obviously get a new one with retina but for someone like me I need to buy used. I priced mine at the Apple website with the SSD upgrade and it was 1,999$ LOL I paid 700$ plus 179$ at BestBuy for the SSD and no labor because I installed it my self. It was a huge money saver! I bought a speck snap on case to protect the immaculate condition it's in but you can't count that! Hope that helps your decision making. OH I also choose the MacBook Pro 13 because it has a cd/dvd drive built in. the others do not, you have to buy it separately! Good luck!!!

Don't have an opinion on the Air, I've only had MBPs (I get them from Work).

- RAM: 4GB 1600Mhz DDR3
- Grafics: Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024MB
- Hardrive : 500gb
For 4800kr (about 550 $)
Do you think it's a good deal?

I sold my Mid 2010 13" MacBook Pro base for $500 mint. With software. Only 256GB. Before you buy check the battery cycle count. I would say it's an okay deal
