Bluetooth connects in settings but goes off when I come out of settings

What are you trying to connect the iPad to? I had that happened with a speaker. It would connect and then lose connection. I turned off the speaker and turned off Bluetooth. Turned speaker then Bluetooth on and resynced. Worked. This is on an iPhone 6S Plus
