Apple TV "not responding" from home app.

How do I get Apple TV to play from the home app?
I used to just touch the Apple TV icon and voila! music.
Now I get an error "Apple TV not responding!!
Same goes when trying to add Apple TV to a scene.

Reason I ask is I’m sitting at the lake with no WiFi and my Apple TV that I have with me is showing as “not responding”:

So to the OP, is your Apple TV on your home network, WiFi or lan cable?

It starts and stops music playback on my TV.

which is correct for not having a wi fi connection
Mine is connected the wifi shows the status of the Apple TV but when you touch it after a short pause it shows "Not Responding"

Thats what I was using it for as well. But after a recent update this function is not responding.
