Giving users the option should always be considered when extracting data from them whether identifiable or not, in my opinion.

I agree wholeheartedly with this, I might turn Siri on if I could limit its ability/reach. I have everything set to avoid spreading my data throughout the system,I have all this kit for my convenience,not so I can join big businesses mailing list !
So yes,we should have the option to opt out of any dissemination of data, Clearly labelled,no shifty lawyerspeak.
