Antivirus program on iPhone?

I just downloaded Norton antivirus on my laptop and it is for up to five devices. I got an email confirmation from Norton, and it says I can download it to my iPhone too. I have never downloaded antivirus software onto my iPhone before. Is it a good idea to do it? Is it necessary?

The only Apple device I've ever had AV on is my Macbook Pro and Mac Mini because I'm constantly connecting USB drives to them. As for iOS devices, never installed them and probably never will.

I might be extremely wrong here, but I don't think AV software are able to scan an iOS device. All software is sandboxed from each other, with some possible exceptions like those from the same developer.

I’ve always thought it was unnecessary, but still wonder if the day will come when it will become necessary!
