Apple gave its users widgets back in 2005, android has been copying apple and the Mac wholesales since 2009.

“What goes around, comes around. It was back in 2005 that Apple gave us Dashboard Widgets for the Mac”

Wonder how much longer google will subsidize android given that premium android is dying a slow death as premium android users are making their way to the iPhone 15 pro and 15 pro max.

Apparently when Samsung and google copy the iPhone whole sale as well as the iPhones price, it would start to alienate what remains of their loyal fan base. That would trigger a domino effect forcing them to migrate to an iPhone thereby killing android. Who knew?

I remember Konfabulator and then Yahoo widgets for Mac OS around 2003, a while before Apple brought their own Widgets officially.

If I remember correctly Konfabulator was sold to yahoo and became yahoo widgets around the time Apple released dashboard and Mac OS tiger

I think the widget tab bar at the bottom of Mac OS 9 was the og widget way before Mac OS X or Konfabulator.

That looks like the App Pallet that debuted with Mac OS 8.5.

My first personal Mac was the ti MacBook on Mac os 9, had no idea the bar was called the app pallet, felt like a widget bar when using it. Almost like a precursor to the widget bar/tray in dashboard on Mac OS 10.4.

I found it. App Pallet didn’t sound right. It was the Launcher. Here is a better link that shows more about it. Man… that was a long time ago… LOL
