A movie stopped working on iTunes & iPad

For years I had a movie, "Sita Sings the Blues", which is available for free from Sita Sings the Blues. It was on iTunes and my iPad. Recently it stopped my synchronization between the two, and deleted it & I downloaded it again. I have several versions now on my Mac, the .mov, .mv4, and mp4 (converted with Quicktime). When I try loading them on iTunes, I get the beach ball.

I have macOS Sierra 10.12.1 & iTunes 12.5.3.16
