Wrong. Since Yosemite 10.10.5 you can enable TRIM on non-apple SSD's with the sudo trimforce enable command in Terminal. El Cap on most configs switches this on automatically.

I know it's not an official Mac app but feedly works very well for me.

It will be fine, heck I'm using it on my iPhone 4S and it's wonderful. It does work better with bigger screens, but I'm more than satisfied with it. Actually, it's more optimised than iOS 7 ever was on the device.
