Back when I bought my iPhone 3GS 16gb brand new, it was ~$450 in value (January). Right now I see a lot of new still ending around 300ish. And used is around 170ish but they are not jailbroken or unlocked. So I think you might be able to get around 200 for yours, if the condition is good.

You would have to jailbreak it and unlock it, and like jeffrey101 mentioned, you need a compatible baseband. I don't think it will work for the iOS 5 currently because there's no jailbreak for that yet. When I jailbroke my 3GS, I noticed the unlocking/jailbreaking was different than iPhone 4...

I am going with the 32 gb. I have a 16 gb right now and it is enough for my music and my apps. But sometimes I would like to watch videos. I can always delete them from the phone after watching (since you can re-download for free in Apple's Video store).
