4.2.8 issue

My friend has a iPhone on 4.2.8 and I downloaded the ipsw file 3 times from 3 different places on windows. Everytime it would download a folder with different files and no ipsw.

I also tried on Mac using Sn0wbreeze, pwnage tool, redsn0w. It always says the ipsw isn't right.


Can someone please point me in the right direction. My friend needs pdanet bc oceanic cable jacked his Internet up.

Dude... Im almost positive you need to change the file extension to .ipws... Most likely youre extracting the whole file...

BTW always check to download from apple servers...

You can also go to iClarified - Apple News and Tutorials go to Tutorials, iPhone, Jailbreak pick any tutorial for 4.2.8 and follow the firmware link. The firmware are from Apple so this is my trusted location. I think on the Windows side you are having issues with the hidden extensions look through the threads I just replied yesterday to that issue.
