I Tunes Won't Pick up Iphone/Ipad

I updated last night with new update of Itunes and now it won't recognize my phone or ipad. I tried all the suggestions on the Apple site and other places. Is it just me? Is anyone else having this problem? Apple says if none of this works, i need to reinstall Windows. I'd rather avoid that if I have to.
