No, my three silver iPhone Xs did not have this. I would not call it normal.

I would say so. It looks like something got messed up when applying the glass backing. For $1000 USD this is not okay at all.

I would recommend contacting Apple regarding this issue.

Ok just got back from Apple store they said it’s normal probably for the wireless charging , they reassured me it’s the same on all their silver models on display which I looked at ... just glad it’s no problem

I’m glad you’re content with the answer Apple gave you but I have had 3 Silver iPhone Xs, and none of them had this issue. I don’t see why wireless charging would cause any imperfections on the back of the device. I have also had multiple Samsung devices that support wireless charging and never had an issue with deformations at the back of the device.

Honestly to me it looks like the line is due to the curve in the glass reflecting the light. If you look at it in different lighting or at an angle is it still there?

Maybe I should start inspecting my phones more. I don’t notice half the things I see in the forums until others point them out lol.
