At EyeMags.com, we just made available 9000 applications which can be downloaded and installed on an iPhone or iPod Touch. Furthermore any person with some interesting content can now create their own mini applications and make them available for download on the iPhone without the pain of submitting via the iTunes appstore.
We use the offline capability of HTML5 in the Safari browser and although the apps are webapps, once installed they run full screen and from the home page so they appear no different from a normal app.
Anyone that wants to try this its absolutely free at the moment so create as many apps as you like.
