Can't view or edit contacts info on iPhone 7+

I recently opened the Contacts app on my iPhone so that I could edit & update some details for one of my contacts. However when I selected the specific contact it displayed the details for a brief 2 seconds - then black screen for 1 second - then back to the home screen.

What could be causing this to happen. I have not altered any settings & have updated the software & apps regularly.

My suggestion would be to do a hard reset on your phone. Hold the power and volume down button together until you see the apple logo. Then release the buttons and wait for it to finish. Hopefully this will solve the problem for you. Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. I did a hard reset twice but I still have the same problem.

It sounds like there may be a problem syncing the contacts attached to the account. Try going to Settings > Mail > Accounts. Select the account that the contacts are associated with, then toggle them off. Reboot, then go back in and toggle them on again. Wait a few minutes, then try accessing them through the Contacts app again.

As per what Ecm said above, when you toggle Contacts off, choose "Delete from my phone". Then toggle back on.
