I'm at Disney with the family. Camera was working perfect. Accidentally dropped the phone on a carpeted floor.

No damage at all to the phone.

Now the camera can no longer focus. All photos are blurry.

Tried a hard reset tried leaving it off for a while.

Could not have happened at a worse time.

Any one have any ideas for a fix ?

Ill be going to the apple store when I get back but kinda screwed until then.

Please HELP !!!!

Lens is clean.

Can the camera be that fragile ?

Weird. I've dropped it on carpet before. I guess it's because I'm on vacation.

Such a bummer

I bought my first digital camera in 1999 to take to Paris with a group of students. We got up to the 2nd level on the Eiffel Tower (where the restaurants are), and I dropped it. Wasn't a bad drop, but it killed it. I had to go buy a disposable from there. I was devastated.

Well I've done nothing but perseverate about my camera not working.

I've learned that it focuses on close ups fine.

Anything further than 12 inches it goes blurry.

Definitely seems like a hardware issue.

Anyone else come across this ?

No. Take it to the Genius Bar but don't admit to dropping it unless you have existing damage on there.

The camera components are fragile, but they are built into a pretty tough case...that said, there will always be a certain way something is dropped or smashed or hit on something where it does something crazy, cars are the same way, tough as nails in certain aspects but hit them at a certain angle and it's a total loss. Obviously you have an event to refer back to when trying to figure out why the camera is acting up, and it's pretty obvious it's a mechanical problem with the lens focus. Since you said there is no visible damage, you do have options if you see fit.

In other words, try and commit fraud.

I had the same issue back when I had my 4s (I never dropped it though), and they swapped it out with no issue at the Genius Bar. If they don't ask if you dropped it (they won't unless there is visible damage), then don't offer that info. They will give u a refurb and then yours will get sent back, repaired and end up going to someone else.

I have Apple care. They don't give refurbs with Apple care.

Only time you get a refurb is with a warranty issue.

I'd prefer a new one and just spend the 50 bucks. This way it doesn't have to be fraud related.

Probably the drop damaged the camera, I personally dont think its the lenses.. Just wait till you get to the Apple store, it's always the best solution (most of the times).
