Do I need the two case screws to in my phone before I can charge it (iPhone 4s)?

iPhone 4s replacing battery issue

I replaced battery and lost the 2 case screws. Thought I can charge the system but all I see is the on screen Apple logo when plugged into charger. I have ordered the replacement screws, Do I need to the two screws before charging the phone?

I don't know. If they are used as a grounding mechanism, it's possible, but I don't know.
