App Progress Sync

I'm interested to know some more details on App Sync.

Say for example you have an iPad and an iPhone, like many people. And on those devices you have say a couple of universal game apps. Game progress is therefore varied on both devices. Will apps be synced from 1). a chosen "master" device i.e iPhone or iPad. Or will games sync from 2). which ever version has the most progress ?

If 1) is the case then a lot of progress could be lost.
I don't know if the software is smart enough to enable option 2)

Any ideas, or too early yet ?

Game progress is NOT synched... only the app itself.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that updated/new Apps for iOS 5 would incorporate progress updates as well. i.e so you play on your iPhone on the go and pick up where you left off on your iPad at home.

If it is just the App being on both devices, then that's pretty lame.

Gamecenter remembers your scores and achievements, but it has no way to restore your saved games progress. Wanna test? Get a good backup of your iOS device and the restore it. Make it a new device and copy your game(s) to it. When you open it, see if it remembers. It shouldn't. Then go back and restore from backup.
