Micro sim adapter question

I have 2 iphones a iphone 4 and a iphone 3.

I was told that I could register both sim cards under 1 phone number, this is incorrect, I have to swap the sim card from one phone to the other each time I want to use the other phone.

I know that i4 has a micro sim and the i3 has a regular sim, they sell micro sim adapters.

Is it as simple as switching the micro sim card between phones to get the phone activated or is the technology differ between the micro sim and the regular sim?

I spoke with ATT iphone support and they said that all I had to do was swap the sim card and the phone will work. I never trust the cust service techs so I figured Id check in here

Just swap the sims using the sim adapter and your good to go.

I am using a regular sim in the iPhone 4 that was cut down using the cutter that came with the adapter kit.
