Finally managed to upgrade from a 3G to an iPhone 4, and I have to say that it's been worth the wait. The phone is way faster, and iOS4 really shines on the new device. Totally stoked.

I also noticed that it synched my content in about half the time it would have taken the 3G. I copied 8GB of Audio and about 30 apps from iTunes onto the device in about 45 minutes. Well pleased. I have 19.8GB free from 32GB and I'm raring to go.

Can anyone explain why my music took up 8GB on my 3G, yet blew out to 8.5GB on the iPhone 4? I'm just curious where the extra 500MB came from when it was the same content.

Anyway, I'm off to play with my new phone. :)

Cheers,
Steve

Steve, congratulations on finally getting the iPhone 4. I am not sure where the extra 500mb went but hopefully somebody can shed some light.

Enjoy!

Hi Steve,

On the 3G do you have the music compression enabled?

This can be switched on and off on the general tab of the iPhone in itunes and is called something like 'enable 128bt compression' (i'm not in front of my laptop right now and can't remember the exact wording but you get the idea)

Yea I know what you mean. I fight the urge all the time to go out and buy an i4 outright, but I just keep telling myself it will be worth the wait.

I'm still probably gonna get the i4 and when the i5 comes out my wife will be eligible for an upgrade so I will go to the i5 and leave her with the i4!!! Good plan huh? :D
