Iphone can't find network

I have TMobile as my service providor. I was given a IPhone 3gs with firmware 4.1. I used limera1n to jailbreak the phone. Then I installed Cydia and used that to install ultrasn0w to unlock the phone. Now when I put my Tmobile sim in the phone is notices the sim is in there but just stays searching for the network. If I put the sim back into my old phone it sees the network just fine. What could I be missing?

Try turning off 3G. T-Mobile's 3G service is not compatible with your iPhone and will cause problems staying connected with T-Mobile. Edge data will work ok.

Unfortunately, That does not seem to work. I have 3G turned off and it still can't find the network. What else can I try?

Ok, I think I know why this isn't workign but I want to confirm this is the case. The baseline on my phone is 05.14.02 and from what I can tell unlock does not work for that version yet.

Am I correct with this?
If this is the case, how soon with this be possible?
