For those of you who purchased on release day, you have 11 days left to decide. Are you going to return it? Would the release of 4.0.1 make a difference? Would a free bumper from Apple make a difference? Are you keeping it no matter what?

Keeping mine too! I'm having intermittant problems with the prox-sensor...but I feel like a SW update could fix that.

I'm keeping mine as well. The proximity sensor issue is a problem as well, but I am sure Apple can at least fix that software wise.

I just press the home button when on a call to prevent accidental touches that affect the call temporarily.

My gf and I are both keeping ours. We love them. She can't use her phone enough, and I'm just as enamored with it was I was with my 3GS. Now Incase is showing their new cases for the iPhone and I can't wait to get one :)

I may return and exchange if I can get the white
one, but not return to either wait for the firmware
release or to use another phone.

Keeping it. I've not had any issues with dropped calls. While I can sometimes make the signal drop, it doesn't seem to interfere with calls or data. I am on my phone all the time for work and reception for me has never been better!

I can't decide maybe some of you can help me!

I recently enlisted in the United States Navy as a Logistics Specialist. I was originally scheduled to ship out to boot camp in mid December, my recruiter called me a few days ago and said a spot opened up on August 18th and asked me if I wanted it. I said HELL YEA!!

But now I don't know what to do. I love my iPhone but I wont be able to use it for 8 1/2 weeks then I still have training in Mississippi after that (I can use a phone in Mississippi though) then I'll get stationed somewhere. My big fear is that I'll get stationed somewhere and AT&T service will be horrible.

If I was to return my phone would it void the new contract I had to sign? Would I be able to cancel my old contract for the $175 or whatever it was?

I'm keeping my phone. The bumper seems to help out with the attenuation issue. And although my proximity sensor is much better after I reset the phone's settings, it's still a little sensitive but nowhere near to where I would want to return the phone.

I'm returning mine. The signal loss as well as the proximity sensor issue is too much for me. I'm going to sit this one out and continue to use my 3G until they come up with a solution.

A 3G running iOS 4 doesn't seem like a good solution either.

a week ago i couldn't agree anymore, but after Restoring as New with no backup (starting completely over), my 3G is performing at its best and the battery life is abnormally better. yeah it has a little lag here and there but it did right out of the box too

see, the sun does shine on a dogs ass every once in a while

Keeping mine for sure. I have had so few problems it's hard for me not to think the media is really just overhyping these "issues". Especially the reception thing- I can get the bars to go down as well but never seems to effect the actual reception(for everyone I know that has the iPhone 4).
