iPhone #GS Auto Rotate does not work

My new iphone 3GS will not auto rotate photos or text.
The softwae was upgraded to Version 5 before the phone was synced with my data.
Is there a glitch in v5?
Every other feature is working without hitch.
I am able to oparate successfully an app called Star Walk where you move the phone in multi directions and get a star map

Fix for Non Rotating Screen for iPhone 3GS

I have sourced a fix for my non rotating screen.(thanks to my son)
Go to Main Menu screen
Press Home Button Twice
Scroll left
Press Button with arrow curving to right
This button can be used to lock orientation at any time.
