Why won't the mail folder on my iPad show all contents?

I know a particular folder on my iPad contains numerous emails, but it is only showing about 8

Have you tried pulling down or swiping down on the list of emails to refresh the list?

Could be because the emails are too old? Or you haven't synced them?
