how long should it take to charge my ipad 2 from dead

have used both usb and mains charger plug both seem to be taking about 8hrs

yes bought the correct plug .

doesn't sound right , should charge in just over an hour. I asked because an iphone charger will take a long time to charge an ipad due to lower output and will only just hold its ground if you use the ipad at the same time. Get apple store to check battery.
