Tell me what your experience with the onscreen keyboard has been. Are you able to type in the traditional style with ease? I was wondering about this for some time. The keyboard on my iPad Air is awesome. But if the Tab 10.1 had something similar I would give it some consideration in the future.

Although I'm biased, wait until iOS 8 comes out next week and then reevaluate the iPad Air. The new operating system will make it seem like an entirely new device.

The Keyboard on the ipad air is better from my experience but i love the s-pen personally, so that helps. The apps are better for the ipad as well, you probably are aware of this, but as I stated i like the s-pen functionality.

I've had a Note 10.1 and a Note Pro, I currently use an iPad Air.

I loved the bells and whistles on the Notes but they only worked "so-so". More like "Jack of all trades, master at none".
I didn't expect to enjoy the iPad Air as much as I do, but I do.
The iPad keyboard is far superior.
The screen sensitivity, the response, the smoothness, all leave Samsung far behind.
Battery life is superior.
More apps and they work better.
At 128 GB on board, storage is a no brainer.
It's really light, I can hold it with one hand for hours (busted my wrist in my teens, gymnastics injury... in my old age it hurts) and my wrist is fine.
Customer service: I had a few hiccups setting it up, Apple tech people were all over that, they got me started easily.
I have used it for editing documents with the Pages app, it was superb. Even a techtard like me can look like a pro!

So I enjoyed my Galaxy Notes, but when it came down to reliable performance, I went with iPad.

That's kind of what my experience has been with Android devices. I haven't had too many Android tablets though. I have only had Nexus tablets. But I was interested in how the keyboard responded on the Samsung tablets. From what I remember, I used the gesture keyboard on my Nexus most of the time. I can't remember how the experience was with that. I know that the keyboard on my Air is awesome. But I will be glad when we get gesture typing. Using the S-pen could really have some advantages here. I guess I will have to try it out to really understand if it would work for me or not.

My experience with Samsung Android keyboards has been disappointing:
They make these gorgeous, spacious keyboards, but when you touch whatever keys you choose, 70% of the time, you get a typo. It's just not accurate. I did have keyboard issues with my old ipad4, but I must say, the iPad Air keyboard is pure typing porn, lol.

Or you could take the time to learn about your new device. I don't much feel like typing out the solutions to your "issues" since you don't seem to want to learn.

And while you're at it, maybe swim on over to AndroidCentral. And stay there.

You read my mind! After reading that post I couldn't believe what I had read. I have had a Blackberry Playbook, then I moved to a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and now I have the iPad Air 1.

The Blackberry Playbook was a quality piece of hardware but suffered severely from no available apps. I then excitedly got the Galaxy Note 8.0 and after a few months of garbage quality apps, crashing, freezing, dismal battery life etc. I exchanged it on an extended warranty through Staples and got the iPad Air.

After having all three, I can see that none of them are perfect; the Galaxy had that great S pen, the Blackberry handled open apps in a very elegant way with the active frames.

The iPad suits my needs, has lots of apps, lots of accessories and is a quality unit however the OS is far too restrictive.

I guess I can't have it all:(
