iMessages/Text msg can't be cleared from Notifications

Is anyone else having an issue clearing text or iMessages from the top swipe down 'Notifications' section? The only way for me to clear old messages is to reset the phone. Annoying...

The clear button is definitely difficult at times for all notifications. It seems unresponsive many times and I have to keep tapping it until it finally deletes the Notification. Not sure if this is what ninerjet refers to.
