Restoring issue

Hey guys,

I just updated my iPhone 4S to iOS 6.1 (was previously on a jailbroken 5.1.1) and I noticed that after a clean restore to 6.1 and setting up the phone as a new iPhone the link to the app store works. However, if I restore my phone from a previous backup the same app store link in Passbook gives me the 'Can't connect to iTunes store" error. I don't think the old fix applies to (I've tried) me, diabling automatic date & time and setting the year ahead. I have not jailbroken the phone yet. Any ideas?

You probably have jailbreak relics left in your backup. You may need to restore as new and just install everything new to not have the problem.

Drats. Any suggestions on recovering SMS out of an old backup?

Not that I'm aware of.

Restoring to an old backup should retain all SMS messages you had at that back up time..
