Jailbroken 3gs- what providers can be used?

My buddy wants to buy my phone. his provider is sprint, so can he jailbreak my phone and use it with sprint?

Nope. Sprint is a CDMA carrier. The iPhone is GSM. Unlocking, which is different than jailbreaking, would only allow the phone to be used on another GSM carrier, such as T-Mobile.
