Is there another way to jailbreak it unthered?

jailbroke iphone 3gs, but it is a tethered (blackra1n rc3). its a friends so i don't want him to have to keep on plugging it into his computer when he turns it off. i have 2 questions.

if i restored it, is there a way to bypass the sim activation/connect to itunes screen?

is there another way to jailbreak it unthered?

nope there is no other way. either your friend needs to not turn the phone off (backup batteries work well for this) or run blackrain again if he powers down his phone. (i have an iPod touch 3Gen that is a tethered JB. it literally takes like 40 SECONDS to run blackrain again. so i dont see it as a major annoyance.)

Quick question. I know you have to re-jb if you power down your phone but what about if you have to do a respring after you apply an app or if you have to do a hard reboot?

You have to re run Blackra1n if you reboot. Period. Respringing is not rebooting.
