My little daily driver GTI gave up the ghost about 3 weeks ago and the transmission finally went...took it in and the repairs (tranny plus a list of other crap) made my jaw drop, so i sold it as is and went out and bought a car that I really wanted when i graduated high school back in 1998, a Honda Prelude. I'm quickly falling in love with this thing and have put maybe 10 miles on my truck since i got it a couple of weeks ago! It's so much fun!
The 90's and early 2000s certainly was the heyday of import performance. I miss those days and the cars of that era.
The Subaru/Toyota platform definitely caught my eye. What it offers for the price is a great bang for the buck. Hondas from the 90's and early 2000's had character and punch to them. The sound those DOHC VTEC engines made when revving north of 7000rpm brought a smile to my face every time. Hondas today seem to have lost that edge and are a little more pedestrian.Agree to an extent...they seem to be making a come back recently with the release of the Subaru/Toyota rear wheel drive platform in the BRZ/FRS/FT86, and of course the GTR is really making a name for japanese performance these days. The late 90's and early 2000's were certainly Honda's time to shine though, and I've owned quite a few Honda's over the years (including an S2000 back in 2004-2005). These cars just have a different soul to them...and i personally love it!
Unfortunately I sold it a few years back. I've had company vehicles to drive since 2003, got married, then bought a place, had a couple of kids...responsibilities, practicality and finances made me have to sell it.btw Blackberry Guy...where's the ITR? I've always had a soft spot for those (but man people ask a fortune for them still).
